| WELCOME!
This website is dedicated to the insect order Plecoptera (commonly
called stoneflies). The order Plecoptera is comprised of 16 families,
a little over 2000 described species, and has representatives on
every continent except Antarctica (Zwick, 1973).
The identification and distributional information this website
will provide will provide information for aquatic biologists, land
managers, and individuals interested in assessing the long-term
health of aquatic ecosystems, as well as being of interest to fishermen.
